About

My travel philosophy.

Years ago I set a goal of visiting at least one new place a year and have surpassed even my wildest dreams of the places I've had the privilege to explore. What I love nearly as much as the travel itself is sharing my favorite spots, tips and experiences with my friends and family. In a year I typically send dozens of itinerary recommendations, from day trips to longer travel abroad. This site is, in part, to have a more efficient way to direct those requests (love to do it, but a serious time commitment!) and to hopefully help others discover places that have meant so much to me.

When I travel I try to create a trip of variety. I move between the can't-miss tourist stops and the less traveled regions to make sure I gain at least a little perspective into an area's culture beyond what the tourist zone offers. While others might hop in and out of a main city or two in a country, I will stay two weeks soaking up the culture and getting to regions most miss. I find understanding regional nuances and going places less visited by outside tourists creates a stronger connection and understanding of a culture and, at the same time, creates a more relaxed pace of travel.

In the same way I balance tourist stops versus off-the-beaten-path destinations, I also balance high-end and local budget stops. I may eat at a Michelin restaurant one night and eat in a local cafeteria or at a standing counter the next. I swap luxury hotels and AirBNBs frequently. I find it creates a richer trip, pushes me out of my comfort zone and helps me to experience many sides of a place.

When I'm not traveling my occupation is actually creating experiences on behalf of brands. Yes, planning is both what I do for a living and what I do for fun!

I hope this site helps you find your next adventure. Please follow me on social and feel free to direct message me!
